Opinion on 12' Alpine type s

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not a dealer or anything but if you need some help ordering anything you can contact denim here on the forum. He is the Aaron that I was referring to, and he will take care of whatever you need.
thank you sir

I have one in my boot, in the factory box, powered by a Soundstream L5.1110. I had to turn it around to face the front because it was too loud before. The kick drum was overpowering everything.

Honestly, if you want something that will shake your rearview mirror so much you can't see didley squat in it, this is the sub for you. Face it to the rear of the car and you'll feel like you're inside a giant kick drum, face it forwards and you'll think there's a bass player sitting beside you. I've never had it turned up full because my ears couldn't take it. To give you an idea of what I consider loud, the last Motorhead concert I attended, I was yelling for them to turn it up. I stood right in front of the speaker stack at my last AC/DC concert. If you want proof, I'll make a video of my mirrors while I play some Pantera. If you tune it right, it feels like Mike Tysons kidney punching you through the seat with every bass or kick drum beat. As for clarity, it's average.

I would venture to say that the new ones are a decent woofer. The Type E was greatly improved and it doesn't sound bad. If you can get cost price for a type S, might not be too bad. They are sort of like the old type Rs.

gor a cheapo sub yea im sure its allright but with the resources of your friend owning a store and all i would definatly be looking for something else.i mean if i had a friend that owned a shop, alpine wouldnt even be in my mind.and even for a 100 im sure you can get much better.

I'm not sure why people here are saying the new Type S is garbage. The difference between the old Type S and the new Type S is a huge. They greatly improved their subwoofer line up several years ago. For a subwoofer under $100, they are great subwoofers. In order to answer you question, need to ask a couple questions first. What amplifier are you running? What is your goal you are trying to achieve? Are you constrained to the Type S because of your budget? Making assumptions, you oughta check into the Type R since it seems like you are buying a subwoofer from a friend with a discount. The Type R's are great subwoofers if you put them in a ported box. I ran two of them on a JBL 1200.1 tuned to 32Hz. The Type R's love being tuned low and get loud and low. It was a setup I ran back in 2006 and honestly, it was one of my favorite setups I have ever ran and I have ran Sundown Audio, Sound Splinter, RE Audio, etc...
