Onyx monster subwoofers??????

I wonder how many people here remember when some RE Audio drivers surfaced that still had Onyx logos on some parts.
I remember that. The motors that Onyx ordered weren't to spec, so RE used them as the HC drivers.

I found it funny that Onyx suffered from that one, because they didn't want to use products that didn't fit with their standards.

Oh well.

The HC's and the SE's, at the time. I don't think it was ever revealed why Onyx rejected them but I think it was blown way out of proportion. For all we know, the gap could have been 1mm too wide or too close.

I think I remember reading that the owner of Onyx at the time, said they weren't within their spec for the driver so they couldn't use them, and instead of losing money on them completely, they were sold off the RE.

But like you mentioned, it was never said what exactly was out of spec, just that it wouldn't work.

The only real problem was that the logos weren't removed. Stock parts at buildhouses are switched around all the time and it's no big deal; I think Onyx made it out to be much bigger than it really was and people really jumped on that. Funny, there was never a significant number of returned drivers from RE but as soon as those pictures came out, people were like "OMG, my driver is defective! RE better give me my money back!"

How about this...

Onyx speakers were exact copies od RE speakers.

Onyx didnt pay their bills and we had a LOT of useless parts with Onyx logos on them.

We had to rid ourselves of them.

We covered the logo up.

Onyx got mad and started a stink.

No speakers were "defective".

The only defect was the name. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
