and is the 90 watts per channel sufficient??

or should I shell out the exra couple hundred bucks for the 705?

onky=good bang for the buck.

always shell out as much as you can. 705 is worth the extra $100 but then you are in the denon 08 series receivers, and the denons are SWEET looking and should perform better.

well I can get a Onkyo 605 for $399..... so that is quite tempting.

what Denon would you reccomend?

Do it. I've had her for a month now and love it. My biggest gripe with it is that I havnt been able to get my zone2 running off a digital source. Everything I have is run hdmi (CBL Box and DVD Player) and neither will play through zone2. Otherwise, I love it. Easy to set up, use, tune...IMO, the best all around performer for most folks...

I know my Onkyo is super low level, and like 2 - 3 years old, but I love it. I have used it primarily for movies everyday almost, and has never let me down.

Oh...

I think 90 watts is sufficient for MOST home theater apps.

I currently have an Onkyo as the base of my HT setup now.... and I absolutely love it!!! it is atlest 5 yrs old and still stout as can be. I am not questioning Onkyo as a brand or reliability. I know they are worth every penny you pay for them. One of the few companies that you get your moneys worth.

well said, I also think there reliability is great. come to think of it, the only thing I DON'T like is the heat mine produces.

I usually call it my little space heater. cant argue about the power or the sound quality though.

I was told that unless you are using 6.1 & 7.1 all the time, the 705 is not necessarily worth the jump in price.

I actually had the same question when I was planning to buy a while back...

even working for magnolia, i dont think that the denons in that price range really stand up to the 605. hell i would even consider getting a 605 at normal price.

if i were you i would pull that trigger. just curious, what speakers are you running.
