One sub or two sub on same Amp

Forgive me for my ignorance but what sound better one 400w rms Sub on a 400w rms Amp or two 200W Sub's on a 400w rms amp? in other words is two sub better them one with the same watts?

Those the famous phrase: "two is better them one" counts here

granted there the same size speaker, 2 subs will have more surface area, and theoretically get 3 db louder than 1 sub.

1 isnt necassarily better than two though. id rather have one sub properly powered, than 2 subs way underpowered. plus 2 subs= double the price ;-)

Well, if it's bridged right now and giving 400w @ 4ohms, then it's possible you could get 600-800w out of it with two subs @ 2ohms. What amp/sub are you using right now?

NO his amp is not 2 ohm stable bridged.

you'll need a bigger (prolly mono amp) to run two of those subs

I'd just stick with the one sub for now since you've already got it at 2ohms. It's probably not 1ohm stable, so no point in risking it. Just stick with what you have for now, and in the future it'll make the next upgrade all the sweeter n_n

P.S.

I don't know how long you plan to keep that setup, but if you ever do decide to upgrade, ditch that Sony amp entirely, there is much better out there.

thanks Mugen, I was thiking on adding an extra Sub but seems is going to be worthless so I going to stay with these set up for a while and will get a better

system next time maybe on Dec
