One box to rule them all.... (in terms of frequency)

So I was thinking about the fact that I think I like a box that hits at 35hz, but I also like the very deep bass also. It seems I can't have both. What about a single box with dual subs that has a divider between the subs to seal them off from eachother and have two different port sizes to allow the subs to sound better at different frequencies?

Yes and no.

Yes, you can have an enclosure that allows you to play evenly across a wide frequency range for any particular sub.

No, you cannot have an enclosure that offers similar performance for different drivers. Some may be similar, others will not. Don't know if your question involved this particular thought, but just in case it did, the answer is no.

Now, back to the first part, you can design a box that completely flattens out the response curve and allows you to play from 20hz to 70hz relatively evenly. Most boxes like that aren't very practical, so it's easier to find something you're willing to make a sacrifice on. In example, I love lower bass notes, but I also love blending my subs with my mids when I'm listening to rock. So, I could build an enclosure that prevents the subs from peaking at ~40 hz and plays down to 20hz. Most of the time, that's going to be a ******* huge *** box. So, I'm willing to let the response roll off around 28 to 30 hz to make the box more compact and still hit some pretty **** low notes.

Another guy I know likes to build his system with a rolloff around 42 or 38hz with an bump in the 50 - 60hz range. He likes to let the cabin gain of his vehicle bump the low end back up to even out the response with the upper end response. It actually works really well. His system is the best one I've heard to date. He was running a JL W6 with JL C5's up front and his install was **** solid.

Me, I'm more of a bass head so I extended my response range to 28 hz. Still very flat sounding, just a little lacking around 70hz, which I've found is mostly in your install anyways. But, I wasn't happy with the volume. So I doubled the box size, power, and slapped in a second driver. Voila, a system I could live with. It just took 6 cubic feet of box for my 2 twelves to do. A lot of the newer subs don't need that much space for a even response, you'll just loose peak volume evening out the response curve. It would take a lot of power, subs, and box to get a system that played 145+ that didn't hit -3db until 20hz at the low end and 75hz at the high.

A porperly built box can play 20-35hz loudly no problem. Gotta get it just right. Might take acouple trys with box size and port size. Hit up stang on here and have him build you one and tell him what you want. I'm sure he can get u headed in the right direction.

Tline ftw........
op.. This. Don't worry, you'll have good range unless you're tuning super high. This is why we stress that you get a properly made custom ported box. The person builds and designs it will make it to have. "Flat Response", just let them know that that's what you're after. Hit up Cscstang once you've chosen the sub you want.

Highly doubtful. If you tune to fs and it's in the mid to high 40's it's not too crazy though.
let's get crazy, im sure its possible, but would it fit, a tline in an ext cab for a single 15? lol im sure at that point id be better off with two 15s ported in 10-15 cubes but i figured id ask if you've pondered it

backseat is gone now as a reminder

I actually have 2 15's Iin a tline in my Xtra cab Silverado tuned to 31.5hz. Rear bench delete. Box is 59x24.5x23.75. Text me for pics cause I hate going through all the carp to post pics on here. Have a few quick vids too.

Bro... Some life advice.

Start getting some practical experience and get your fucking ass in the fucking garage and start cutting some fucking wood after you've designed some fucking enclosures after you've bought some fucking modeling software because this shit is getting fucking old and you haven't fucking been here fucking long enough for it to be getting this fucking old.

Now can we talk about something else besides 35Hz?

Yes, I'm joking. Lighten up.
