what kind of power switch do i need to seperate the wire running from the battery to the amp if i do not want to go behind the head unit.

you must be talking about your remote wire...i think. i'm pretty sure the best way to hook it up is to the back of your deck----get off your *** and do it right.

you can just put a regular 12V switch on the wire, an auto parts store should have lots of options

....or find a +12 switched source to tap into. But if your too lazy to pull the deck, then I don't see you doing it.
