Omg Wow! Dls A7 Is An Amazing Work Of Art! Pics Inside...

Anyone know when the DLS "tube" amps are coming out? Anyone plan to buy em?

And 3.5Max6spd, dual A7's...you are such a bastard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

yeah the manual is a bit annoying. I understand it all but the x20 math they use does not add up like the x10 math... This thing just does so freaking much it is crazy. Glad I have the 9835 to control the crossover and time alignment for me. Setting it on this amp would leave me brain dead.

The sheet that came with it has browns listed on the parts tally. I was pretty suprised DLS tells you what parts they use to build the amp and were those parts were sourced!
Yea I noticed that too...kind of a unique feature. Love the pics man....they have such beautifly orchestrated internals. Hope it sounds ok.

I liked my A5 so much, I went ahead and bought her a playmate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif I'll be sure to post an orgy o DLS guts **** when she arrives //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sweet figured two things out. They are getting away with useing 85c caps because all the heat or most of it is on the opposite side of the board! Awsome design! The boards are rubber isolated to help shock but also to press the mosfets into the heat sink! Freaking awsome! Never seen a design like this. Most hang the mosfets off the sides into a rail to dissapate heat. This one uses the whole top fin surface to cool! Sweet! You can see the drawing of the mosfets in this photo, they are directly under the board drawing!

And then again here...

Anyone else use this kinda design..? I have not seen it but it totally makes sense. Lets you use allot smaller chassis and get rid of heat faster!

That would **** if you blew a mosfet though.

It would get all stuck inside the heatsink.

Which would probably never happen.

I saw the drawings on the board before and wondered what they were for...now i know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hey I see you are getting two of them! WOW! So are you bridging the 4 channels into two so you can run left / right 2 way active front or...?
ch1 to tweet, ch 2 to midrange, ch3 +ch4 bridged to 8" mids, ch 5 to 1 sub....same applies for the other side. Its gonna take alot of shorties and splitters to get this new rig hooked up for sure.....but hey i downsized my system from 3 huge amps (Length 17", 19", 19") to 2 , 22" ones ....granted not the same power, but good enough for SQ.

On the down side it appears the Autohifi German mag review of the amp showed it does just about rated power, no more no less..

http://www.dls.se/english/Test_reports/A7_autohifi.htm

I think from other tests, that german mag rates everything at 12V instead of 14.4 I know the a7 does not have strict regulation. I see she did 450w at 2 ohm on channel 5! That is impressive and 273 at 4 ohm... I definitly see her doing 600 at 1 ohm if the supply can keep up well like it is rated to.

Edit, that one you linked to tested at 13.8 which is close enough. Looks like she does right at her rated power clean. Cannot wait to test the dynamic range of this baby! Hope she has lots of headroom. I assume she does by the optomistic fuse ratings....

yeah would help a tiny bit. not much though. 60w rms is plenty for the aura mids I run. They are very dynamic and efficient. And with the 600rms rated at 1 ohm that I will be running with 3 10's, I will have more power than I could ask for in my small scion tc's cab! In my sq truck I was running the aura's off an amp rated at 50wpc rms and they rocked! Dynamic, clean, natural and no fatigue. Man I cannot wait to play with this baby!
