Just dropped off my girlfriend home when noticing a little dimming from my lights. After a few minutes i stopped in a stop light. Light turns green then boom! my power on my car was struggling. It almost turned off but was still running.. especially struggling up the hills. I was pretty freighten so i merged to the side and put my car in park. All of a sudden the car started going crazy, meaning that my RPM was dropping and then gaining and dropping again back n forth. What is going on here? When trying to start the car, my starter just starts clicking, clicking and clicking. Sounds nasty.

What may be the problem be?

Battery Dead?

Alternator?

Starter?

It cant be the fuses because then it wont even click and the power would completely turn off right?

Electrically i only hooked up a 1 gauge from my battery negative to chassis ground.

Got home by calling my friends which lucky one of my friends lived down the hill. We all pushed the car to his house and charged it for an hour and a half. And i made it home (~1 mile). But i noticed my lights were starting to dim again!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif :crying: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif :crying: Please help

Yup the alts dead. Basicly your car's running off the battery and not the alt , thats why when you charged the battery it ran for a little longer

i think you could repair the alt...no idea how much repairs cost. i think they rewind it or something? idk, someone clearify.

if the alt was dead due to your stereo system, then its a good time to invest into an HO alt while you can. unless you plan to sell the car or remove the equipment.

i was quoted $325 shipped from excessive something.com for a 170amp alt for my civic, direct fitment. im still thinking about it...lol

If you are going to have it repaired, I would just get a rebuilt one and then that way you have no down time without the car, all you would need to do is take out the old one, then put in the new one, and then go back to wicheverplace you got it from to get your core charge back. Otherwise, if youare planning on keeping your car and have the money I would get the H/O alternator

btw, i maybe still have warranty on that altenator. But not really sure. You think doing the rest of the 2 other upgrades of the big 3 might do it well for me? I am not even running that big of a system!

what's the problem for having a 1994 pathfinder? it was passed down from my parents to me and i am happy i got a car that i do not need to pay for anymore.
No man..I wasn't laughing at your ride..I was laughing becuase of Supa's sarcasm..the previous poster asked what kind of ride you have, when its posted in your sig.
