Older style type R 12" box size?

Got an older style alpine R 12" today in good shape for just $20... what size/tuning around should I use for a id say 75%spl setup... doesnt have to be exact but a rough estimate so I can pick out a pre-made box design because I have no clue what to make it, space for the box is pretty much unlimited.... thanks

With older Type R 12's you can go with 1.75 to 2.50 cu.ft. Net Volume.

Given that you looking to be on the high side in terms of 75/25 - SPL/SQ, you don't won't to tune to 30Hz, tune it around 35 - 38 hz and give yourself plenty of port area so that subwoofer can breathe and move some air.

I thought the lower tune the louder, thanks for clearing that up... would a bigger box be more louder? like 2.5 louder then 2? I'm gonna go with 2 @ 35 I think now

They older ones dont like a box bigger than 2ft^3 ported and 1.5 sealed...tune low, no higher than 34. They're not SPL subs at all. They more suited for sealed enclosures.
