old scool to new scool

i was wondering what you guys view is on having crossovers...i had a crossover on my first system back in 97 i had two old scool punch 500 (crome ones) and a punch 800.4 for the highs with a croosover, but now days seems like i dont need the crossover my pioneer 3200 has a high pass filter amps have built in crossovers what with people still having crossovers

Some head units don't have the electronic filters like yours do. The amp manufacturers go ahead and put them there for ease of installation. If someone was running two amps on their fronts, maybe one needs full range. That means no filter at the hu, but the second amp for the highs will need a filter.

 
Some people just like running those old school amps with no on board processing as well. Or having more tuneability. I guess running a crossover would just depend on what you wanted in and out of your system.
