once again, in my opinion any thing pre '85 is vintage
That I agree with, but that term isnt as widely used.

I only said late 70's because of the Punch amps made by Jim Fosgate before Rockford bought them out were basically the same as the early 80's versions made by RF, and Alpine's emergence in that time.

 
I kinda give it that date because right around then is when as I can remember car audio moving out of relitive obscurity into the mainstream. Brands like MTX, Orion, Alpine,Hifonics,Sony ... were actually making large marketing decisions, dealerships and install bays were growing tremendoulsy, and "Sound offs" were starting to get some fairly large turnout. But this is to the best of my recollection.
