Old School v. New School for setup?

I'm have been debating getting a pair of old school amps for my setup or some new amps. Been looking at the new Alpine PDX amps and some old Punch and PPI amps. I have a pretty tight space to work in. 2 13" by 13" spots under my seats. Opinions?
