Just wondering, will they get as loud and take as much power as the newer style? I know they are rated lower at like 300RMS. Just wondering if they were about the same sub, besides the surround obviously.

In that case, it should get to close as loud as the new style right? So it would like about 6-700RMS?

No its not going to handle as much power and wont be as loud as the newer style.

Bump this from the dead, also wondering if I could run a new Type R D4 with my old Type R D4? I would be powering them with an AP15001D.

If I was you I would test them first. put an ohm meter on them to see if they are close. I dont know for sure but the newer one might have better heat effiecency... and a few other advances. You should just run an identical pair or just one now and keep the new one put up till you can buy a second.
