old school ppi ax606.2

I don't know what the Focals take but the W7 is looking for near 500 watts as a minimum and near 1000 watts is shown to be optimum. The AX606 is only going to give you 400 watts at 2 ohms bridged on channels 5 and 6. It might be better to look for a sub with a little less required if you already have the 606 and plan to use it.

Correct. You could use the output RCAs on the 606 to connect an A1200 But that would still leave you with four 50 watt channels for your Focals. Which may be enough, I don't know what they need, and two channels not used on the 606. There are several bridged configurations you could use in conjunction with the crossover to get more power from the amp but none of them are going to run 4 sets of components and a W7.

My amp is the 6 channel amp, what I am asking is if i bridged the last two channels, will i get enough for the sub. considering this ppi is way under rated.

Everyone says this is a nice amp, what's so good about it if it can't run 2 sets of compenent with at w7

Yeah, I know it is a six channel. The sub channels (5 and 6) will go to two ohms bridged giving you 400 watts. I don't think that is going to be enough for a W7 12.

It is a nice amp. When it was built, 400 watts was enough for most of the subs that were out there.

As far as being under rated, I have heard people say they were and others say they were pretty close to rated power. I tend to think they give more but have no facts to prove that.

Mind if I ask if your have a white or black 606?

i have a white one,

Have you ever used this amp before? Or you are just answering base on specs of this amp?

I can get a JL 1000/1 and JL 500/1, which is more efficent for the 12" w7? Will the 500/1 be good for it? I just really want sound quality and not to show off the base, but i still want it to hit though.

I have never used a 606 but I have been running PPI amps since the 90s. I have a PC PRO650 (same board as a 606) that am building a system with now. However I have never used a W7 so I am going on specs alone as far as that goes. I don't know if 400 watts would get it moving enough to make you happy or not. Are you stuck on using a W7? Why not just use a sub that doesn't need 1000 watts?

Well, since you have the sub and amp why not go ahead and wire it up to see if you are happy with it. It will be under powered but if all you want is decent daily bumpin it may work out for you. The W7 is a good sub and is at the top of the JL line. It just needs a load of power to use it to it's potential. As far as other subs made now I can't really give the best advice because I haven't bought or used a new sub since I installed a set of W6s way back when. They finally gave up on me and the surrounds fell apart. I am going to be using a Boston G5 ten on my Pro650. I did put a pair of Boston G2 twelves in for a guy not long ago. They worked out quite well for him. Very nice subs with great build quality.
