im gonna be hookin up my system with an old school setup

MTX 275x goin to the mids/highs

MTX 2150x bridged goin to an old school round solobaric 10"

anyone else run these old amps?

with the exception of them not being 2ohm stable, they are lil beasts! the 2150x is rated at 300rms bridged, but ive heard of it goin over 400 in reality.. 2 - 30amp fuses means to me it probably does more power than its rated for... i was lookin at a 2300x but didnt make the deal..

just wondering if anyone else messes with these.. and what their experiences were... i havent heard anything outta these in a while, i think its time to use em again

I have a couple 2300X's but most of my MTX's are the black and chrome thunder amps though. They are still great amp's and I know alot of people using them. If you don't want to use them PM me a price and maybe I can give them a nice home lol.

naw, not sellin lol...

kinda want a 2300x if i go to 2 subs, but i wanna see how this will sound first

thinkin about some rainbow 5.25s to take in the 275x power..

with the pre outs and xovers on these amps it should be a nice easy install... maybe make my 64 galaxie vert sound "kinda" nice

I really didn't like the 81000D or the 1501D to be honest... They made decent power, but I don't like the design. It was actually kind of a compromise in order to use less parts and because of it the old 81000D's cannot be repaired anymore if the outputs are blown, as there is no working replacement without re-engineering the output drive circuit entirely.

I have a broken 250x, one channel works

one time i hooked up components to my uncles old rockford amp and one channel burned a hole through the mid dustcap, couldnt figure out the smell for a while!

Sorry but the 4320 is in use as we speak! running pioneer components and a 15" Image dynamics(old school)

I would take an offer...

Most of the failed 81000D's and 1501D's that I seen had legs broken off the mosfets from vibration. That's how they blew up. You have to be loud or at least have a lot of vibration going for whatever reason to experience "teh blowup amp". LOL...

One of my cousins is running a 81000d on his 13w7 at 3 ohms and he is pleased with the performance of it. IIRC, that was one of MTX's first generation Class D amplifiers and it was not very efficient for a class D.

i love my 1501d's. only problems i had were the rca's got loose and led to the demise on the first one i had. the other problem was that the 1/0 inputs broke free from the board somehow, and i had to get them re-soldered. the third one is just sitting in a box waiting to go in or be sold. i also have a 2150x, and i'm pretty sure i had it down to 2 ohms. maybe it was 4 per channel. idk. but they are solid amps, and yes they love the power.

@ dbr - what is "teh blowup amp" you speak of? it has me concerned because mine is mounted to my box. lol
