posted this on a f/b page as well, but im expanding my target audience.
its getting to be about the time i attack my g/f's 2015 dart with a basic active o/s install, but ive found myself torn between equipment to use and/or acquire with the recent recovery of a very special amplifier i thought to be lost forever.
my personal objective im trying to attain is listening enjoyment for both passenger and driver as we plan to travel cross country in the future, while adhering to her issue of having the room in the trunk without struggling to move a large cumbersome enclosure or equipment to get to the spare or transport long items, so it's looking to be an i/b alignment with drop-down baffle and all equipment (as minimal as possible) well recessed with internals on display... at least, this is the best plan so far, but i can't really think about drivers til i get this sorted.
i decided the head unit to be a gorgeous alpine cda-7864 for it's max tune sq feature and 1 bit dac, but that's the only thing remaining set in stone. the other option was the 7863 i found for 30 bucks, but this 64 kinda fell in my lap.
at first i decided to use the bnib pra-h400 ive had waiting for a home for the past 5 years, i mean,.. duh, kind of a no-brainer considering the h/u used, so i decided to start sourcing out a full alpine series set of amps and happened upon an mrv-1002 v12 for 70 bucks at a garage sale for sub duty,.. problem is, finding the other same series variants to complete the amplifier section, so this is where this option stagnates unless i want to mix in some 01 series mrv's with a similar, yet different heatsink profile.
the next option is using my ppi art series a204.2,
(need to take pic)
a600.2,
with a 4200am
and a few 1st gen special editions to substitute until i find a few more arts of comparable application with the alpine processor.
this may be the best option in terms of power and dynamics, but it is the most expensive if i do stay true with the art line.
last and final option, but probably the most unique and prettiest circuitry,.. full bnib hafler processing and pure class-a amplifiers using an maq-104 10 band x 4 channel in/out eq
,
max 410 4ch in/10 channel out crossover,
mse80di (20w x4/80w x2)
mse100tn bridged for sub,..
and, the mse120di (20w x6/80w x3) i just recovered from my father who grabbed it and put it in safe keeping during my divorce.
i can use all 10 crossover channels with just these 3 amps, but the only issue i see so far is the complete lack of time alignment with the hafler processing vs the pra-h400. the good thing is that this stuff will take up the least amount of room.
idk, fellas,.. ive got some excellent stuff to play with, just really trying probe a few noodles to see what others would opt for given the selection.
