Old school amp bites the dust

We have been powering my sons car with a Alphasonik PMA2175 from the late 80s....yes 80s.It was slamming the pair of 12s he had for about 2 weeks and then quit on his way to school.I removed the amp and then removed the bottom plate.The rca jacks were melted,what looks like a AAA battery was rollin around in there,and the rubber insolaters that go to the shroud have melted.WOW....was running 4 ohm stereo.Not sure what happened.....just know its now dead.
