Well I saw these on sale and I am thinking of buying one for my daily driver build(1992 Oldsmobile 88).

I am unsure on what amplifier to purchase for this subwoofer that will be powerful enough to run it.

I want to run just a single sub.

Any suggestions on a amplifier for me?

My budget is $150 or so.

You can probably find a cheap 2 channel for sale in the classifieds, or just post in the WTB section that you're looking for a 2 channel amp that'll do 300-400 watts bridged at 4ohms. You can probably get something of good quality for really cheap, like 50-60 bucks.

I'd put that in 1.25ft^3 at 32hz.

I called and talked to a rep and he suggest this amp.

But I might check the classified here before I buy that amp.

That amp does the most power at 2ohms, and your sub would be 4ohms, so you'll have all of that wasted potential just sitting there not being used. Find a 2 channel amp that does 300-400watts when bridged at 4ohms and you'll save some money.

Now if you plan on getting another sub, then you can start looking at amps that do the most power at 2ohms in order to avoid having to buy a new amp when getting another sub.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I ditched the 10wx idea we talked about once I saw this deal. lol.

I may buy a box design in the future from you for this.

When you say 1.25ft^3 at 32hz are you talking about a ported or sealed box?

Sorry for the dumb question.

I was thinking maybe a sealed box so I dont fill up the whole truck with a sub box. Unless a 1.25ft box isnt that big.

They also have that really good deal on the Eclipse SW8010, 28mm xmax for $100 shipped.
I think "28mm" is a typo.

Only documention I can find from Eclipse labels one-way Xmax at 1.5 inches ... about 38mm. Would I be wrong to guess that that's two-way Xmax making it really 19mm of excursion?

Yeah, that seems right since 38mm one way would not be happening, not on a $100 sub. It's idd that Eclipse doesn't even list the specs for it.

Different sub.
Same sub, just the 12" version.
