OLD KICKER 500ss AMP

Anybody here still running a Kicker 500ss?, I've got one that hasn't been used in about 7 years and wondered what you guys thought of them.

I was running 4 Kicker comp 15's on the 500ss and I thought it sounded pretty good in my Explorer, the paper included with the amp said it would run 1152RMS into one channel all day long.

They are class A/B, so they drain a lot of current, but sound damn good doing it. I absolutely love how they look, internally and externally. Take a peek inside for some real eye candy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I really liked that it put out ~1200 @ 4 ohms, pretty hard to find an amp like that nowadays. It also has really good protection circuitry, something I noticed when I kept on running it at 2 or 1 ohm bridged. It would turn off, and right after you reset the remote wire connection, it would run fine again. It did get pretty hot though, but that never seemed to be an issue. I would love to run one of these again in the future. I suggest you keep yours, despite the fact that you could get around $250-$300 for it.

I'm keeping the 500ss until it dies, I plan on using it to push 2 dvc 4 ohm subs to get the max out of it.

When I ran this amp before I didn't have any heat problems, I built an amp rack that had 4 cooling fans (2push 2pull) this setup kept my 3 amps from going into thermal overload and it looked pretty cool (white formica inside, neon colored paint spattered inside, and a few black lights).
