Ohm

Ohms is the unit of measure for electrical resistance.

Have a read here (and scroll the right-hand navigation bar down to #7: Resistance) for a more in-depth explanation.

Since your amp is 2-Ohm stable you would want to purchase the 2 Ohm DVC model of the L7. Solobaric L7 subwoofers are DVC which means they are Dual Voice Coil and when you see someone write 2 Ohm DVC they are meaning a driver that has two voice coils each coil measuring a nominal resistance value of 2 Ohms.

If you were to buy L7s that are 4 Ohm DVC then they could be wired to 1 Ohm (too low for your amplifier to operate safely) or 4 Ohm (which would only use half of your amplifier's available power)

Get the 2 Ohm SVC model L7s and wire them like so:

man this is too complicating cant u wire the 4 ohm kickers to 2 ohm because there is four terminals on the back and u go with the wire to the positive positive and than connect negative to negative???? and that puts it at a 2 ohm load right?????

You can wire a single 4Ohm DVC subwoofer to a 2Ohm load but not a pair of them.

I gave you the proper wiring schematic for a pair of them and suggested you go with the Dual 2 Ohm versions as your first post mentioned wanting to do two of them.

With two of them you are not going to be able to achieve a final nominal load of 2 Ohms.

With a single Dual 4 Ohm L7 you can make a 2 Ohm load wiring the coils in parallel, yes. But not two of them.

a single dual 4 can be wired at 2 ohm or 8 ohm

a single dual 2 can be wired to 1 ohm or 4 ohm

2 dual 4's can be wired at 1 ohm or 4 ohms

2 dual 2's can be wired at 2 ohm or .5 ohms

so the lower ohm sub u get the better or what i mean my buddies tell me to go with 4 ohm on subs but i guess i should go with the 2 ohms does it really matter what ohm sub u go with i'll go with two but i just dont understand all this i'm a noob

they just told you what to do. you have to match the sub's impedence to the amplifiers impedence. if you have to low of an impedence load, your amp could fry/damage itself.

if you had a kx1200.1 (or something along those lines) THEN you could get 2 dual 4 ohm subs and wire to a 1 ohm load.

but the new kicker amplifier lines are NOT 1 ohm stable but 2 ohm stable.

and there is no "better" vc configuration sub. it's ALL dependent on what the amplifier's load can handle.

noo ohm is better, u just got to make sure it can wire to certain ohms soo u can get max performance out of u amp

i have to buy a new amp cuz i couldnt wire my sub to what my amp wanted to be played at for max power

No particular Ohm rating is any better than a voice coil of a different nominal resistance. They are what they are which is entirely dependant upon the way it was built/manufactured.

Different Ohm load configurations work differently when working in concert with other gear. Ohm's Law applies and is a rather ironclad Law so you take what you've got and combine it with whatever it needs to work best.

Your ZX-series Kicker amplifier makes it biggest output when presented with a 2 Ohm nominal resistance load while not being designed to run safely any lower than that. (if it will run safely lower than that and Kicker just isn't telling anyone I wouldn't know - never so much as seen one of the new ZX units in person at this stage, myself ~ maybe Polecat will chime into this thread and shed some light on that)

But for now - for the sake of equipment longevity we'll simply assume that 2 Ohms is the lowest that unit will go and remain stable.

Now that we've established what the amp needs to make its biggest power and still run safely (a 2 Ohm load) then you have to work out how to present it with a 2 Ohm load while using drivers that can handle that amount of output (the 1,000 watts it will do when shown a 2 Ohm load)

Hopefully this post explains a bit better what it is that you're working with. If so - now go review the previous posts in this thread as most of the respondants have already told you how you need to do what you need to do....I even provided you with a pretty no-nonsense diagram for you.

Good luck and enjoy!
