so the lower ohm sub u get the better or what i mean my buddies tell me to go with 4 ohm on subs but i guess i should go with the 2 ohms does it really matter what ohm sub u go with i'll go with two but i just dont understand all this i'm a noob
No particular Ohm rating is any better than a voice coil of a different nominal resistance. They are what they are which is entirely dependant upon the way it was built/manufactured.
Different Ohm load configurations work differently when working in concert with other gear. Ohm's Law applies and is a rather ironclad Law so you take what you've got and combine it with whatever it needs to work best.
Your ZX-series Kicker amplifier makes it biggest output when presented with a 2 Ohm nominal resistance load while not being designed to run safely any lower than that. (if it
will run safely lower than that and Kicker just isn't telling anyone I wouldn't know - never so much as seen one of the new ZX units in person at this stage, myself ~ maybe Polecat will chime into this thread and shed some light on that)
But for now - for the sake of equipment longevity we'll simply assume that 2 Ohms is the lowest that unit will go and remain stable.
Now that we've established what the amp needs to make its biggest power and still run safely (a 2 Ohm load) then you have to work out how to present it with a 2 Ohm load while using drivers that can handle that amount of output (the 1,000 watts it will do when shown a 2 Ohm load)
Hopefully this post explains a bit better what it is that you're working with. If so - now go review the previous posts in this thread as most of the respondants have already told you how you need to do what you need to do....I even provided you with a pretty no-nonsense diagram for you.
Good luck and enjoy!
