ohm rating on amp?

I know this is a beginner type question and I'm probably going to be ridiculed for this....but anyway here goes...and before anyone says it, yes i did google it, but didn't find anything to really made sense....If you have an amp that says it will do 2000wrmsX1@1ohm.....I understand the whole 2000 wrms, to one channel, but how do you wire it to one ohm?

depends on the config of your coils.. what subs do you have?

You can wire any number of impedances for your amp depending on what type of voice coils your subs use. If you have ONE single voice coil sub obviously that is the impedance your amp will see.

However if you have ONE dual voice coil sub (a dvc 4 for example) you can wire the coils in parallel for 2 ohms or in series for 8 ohms. Same principle if you have TWO single vc 4 ohm subs.

Probably the most common way to get a 1 ohm impedance on a sub amp would be with a pair of dual 4 ohm voice coil subs. You wire the coils in parallel, making the subs 2 ohms each, then you wire the subs in parallel making the total load on the amp 1 ohm.

It is done like this --

you can also wire for 1 ohm with ONE dvc 2 or two SVC 2's, 4 SVC 4's or dvc 2's.

The subs are DVC 2's.....And there are 2 sets of speaker outputs on the amp. (2 +, and 2 -)

If it's a Mono amp the terminal's on the amp are linked internally so just use one set of terminal's. Just wire the sub in parallel (run both negatives from the sub to a negative on the amp and run both positives on the sub to a positive on the amp) and it will give you a 1ohm load. You could also just run a positive wire from each positive input on the sub to each positive input on the amp and do the same with the negative if you want to use all 4 terminal's on the amp.
