ohm question

What are the advantages/disadvantages of running 8/4/2/1 ohm loads on a amp aside from power? The question comes from: does a 1000w 4ohm output have any benefit over a 1000w 2ohm or 1ohm? I know that lower ohms probably generates more heat but I didn't know if 8/4 ohm load produced better SQ than 2/1/or lower. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

damping factor.

that is the difference. amplifier has better control with higher impedance loads. 1000W at 8 ohms requires more voltage and less current than 1000W at 2 ohms. the result could be less heat and lower THD with higher impedance loads. i prefer more voltage and less current, and i prefer higher damping factor. i avoid running speaker amps at or below 2 ohms. sub amps - it's so much cheaper to make power at a lower impedance - it's hard to avoid it. the real trick with high power at higher impedance is avoiding clipping and having an adequate electrical system.
