ohm question.

I have 2 12'' type x. I was planning to run them at 1 ohm on a 1600watt brutus amp. Would it be better for me to get another amp and run it at 4 ohms? Is it more reliable to run a sub at 4 ohms than 1 ohm?

a sub handles 1600wrms at 1ohm the same as it would 1600wrms at 4ohm...you would just be wasting a lot of money on an amp that puts out as much power at 4ohm.....but you'd be lucky to see 1400wrms out of that brutus....i'd advise running the 2000wt brutus at 1ohm to those type x's...just get some electrical upgrades to help out that amp

As long as you are running the amp in specs with the manufacturers rating you have nothing to worry about. Alot of amps you can run at lower loads as long as you have the electrical to back it....

the lower the impeadance the higher the power achievable from an amp on a car supply

the same voltage but the resistance changes therefore the current changes therfore the power changes

but if ur after high quality sound the higher the impeadance the better as the amp doesnt have to work as hard
