OHM Help

I am kinda clueless when it comes to the whole OHM thing. I am currently looking into buying a new sub. I now have 2 10'' JL W0's and looking into the Kicker Solo Baric L5 or L7. They have a dual voice coil that can handle 450RMS. One of the models says its a 2 OHM per coil and the other model says its a 4 OHM per coil. My question is which model should I go with and also what is the difference between the 2 and 4 OHM coils??? Also does the type of amp I need to buy depend on which OHM coil I go with??? Thanks for any help

the type of voice coils you buy depends on how many subs you plan on putting in and the type of amplifier you plan to purchase. hook me up with these stats, and ill tell you which ones you need

I am thinking about just one 12'' or 10'' kicker solobaric L5...Not sure on the 2 OHM or 4 OHM and I would have to get a new amp as well...my current Kenwood is only a 2x 150 rms power. SO i would buy whatever amp was needed.

which kenwood is it? because you could buy the 2 ohm version, wire it in series, and bridge the amp at 4 ohms that way. If it produces around 500 watts bridged, that amp would serve you nicely

Not all monoblocks are 1 Ohm stable (mine isn't) and without 1 Ohm stability the amp's RMS output at 4 Ohms may not cut the mustard.
95% of them are. And that sucks yours is not 1 ohm stable, you must hate your life.

Yeah, my PG Tantrum 1200.1 isn't 1 ohm stable...and that bothers me so much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

To the original poster - listen to Stones; he gives good advice on this one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
