hello i want to hook up another amp to my subwoofers. i have 2 12" kenwood 800watt subs. i have 1 920 watt max power amp hooked up to bowth of them now. i just cheaked the amp book and it said that

normal (4 O) (20HZ-20KHZ, 0.08% THD)......150W X 2

(4 O) (DIN : , +B = 14.4V)...................150W X 2

(2 O) (wKHZ, 0.8% THD).......................230W X 2

BRIDGED (4 O) (1KHZ 0.8% THD)............460W X 1

now the speakers are 4 ohms. but it said that the AMP was 920 watt max power. ad i dont see how im getting 920 watts. and my subs are 800 each and i want to put a lot of power through them. so if i bought he exact same amp im only puttin 460 W per speaker? cuz each amp will go to each speaker?

also im useing 8 guage wire. that going to be able to power 2 amps if i get a splitter? or do i run a bigger guage?

thank you all for the help.

Max power is completely meaningless. You have (according to the specs you posted) a 460w RMS amplifier. Forget about max power. Ignore it. Erase it from your mind. The only power figures that matter are the "RMS" figures.

But, since you were fixated on Max power....is 800w the "RMS" or "Max" power handling of your subs? What is the impedance of your subs? Dual or single voice coils? It would be beneficial if you could list the exact model # for the subwoofers.

so if i bought he exact same amp im only puttin 460 W per speaker? cuz each amp will go to each speaker?
Assuming your subs are capable of presenting a single 4ohm load individually, and you ran one of those amps to each sub.....yes, each sub would receive 460w RMS.

also im useing 8 guage wire. that going to be able to power 2 amps if i get a splitter? or do i run a bigger guage?
Upgrade to 4ga if you plan on running more power.

what do you all think i should do? im open to ideas.. i dont have a ton of money to spend on this stuff but like.. whatever it takes to make my shit sound good im willing to do!

thanks!

i had the same setup as you. keep that amp, run each sub @ 150 and build a box around 2.5, tuned to 30 hz (for each sub). it was ALOT louder, sounded awesome, and had great extension. since those subs are only 400 RMS a piece, i would not overpower them. mine blew out at 460 rms (with the amp bridged) after a week of beating the hell out of it.
