Rafalski is already there and Ericcson has really stepped up, also Kronwall!

None of them are Lidstrom and Rafalski isn't exactly young. Osgood also isn't getting younger and I see no replacement in the works for Osgood.

My concern is what happens to the Wings when Lidstrom leaves? he doesn't have much time left. The Wings did a great job replacing guys like Yzerman, Fedorov, Shanahan etc. with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, but I don't see anyone being able to carry the load like Lidstrom.

You can never replace the best defenseman.

Conks will never be a #1. Heck, he's been a crappy #2 for most of his career.

Conklin had a great season playing # 1.25 for the entire season for the Wings. #1 no.. but not a crappy #2 last year by far.

fleury should have gotten mvp, not malkin

Fleury was downright terrible in several games, including 2 games ago and Pittsburgh's offense won them a ton of games over the course of the playoffs when Fleury played mediocre.
Malkin was the right choice. If Crosby had actually done something against Detroit, he would've been my choice, but no goals in a 7-game Stanley Cup final takes you out of the running.

Doubt it, he got effing lucky.. if you call diving to one side of the net to get "hit' with a puck an mvp save, you shouldnt even be watching hockey.
Yeah im a detroit fan, but Imho... I dont think pittsburg shouldve won. Theyre a bunch of young, ***** *** hacks that cry when shit doesnt go their way. What do the wings do when their down and the refs arent calling shit their way? hm? They fcking bust more *** to try and win it...

That douchebag crosby, i dont even know where to start with him... That 'kid' cant even grow a mustach, let alone a beard. Lets see what happens next year when the cup gets stolen away from him, not a doubt it my mind he would start balling his eyes out and cry for mommy.

Sean Avery for me, what an *******
Saku Koivu second, he's the worst capitain, ever!

Sean Avery's dicketry is quite annoying ... He's a good player, but as was shown in the NYR vs. WAS series, he took his dicketry too far and it ended up costing his team the series.
I hate Donald Brashear the most, personally. That guy takes so many cheap shots when things aren't going his way. I remember a few years back when Shanny fought him because he kept trying to rough up his team; that was classic. Shanny was an awesome captain.

Guys like Lidstrom aren't going to be easy to replace. The guy is just ridiculously smart and calm with the puck, he has spectacular hand-eye co-ordination, and he is almost always in the right position.
I love it when the other team tries to dump it in past him along the boards and Lidstrom just knocks it out of mid-air and back over the blue line, forcing offsides.

Right now, Detroit doesn't have anyone with anywhere near Lidstrom's talent who would be able to step up, IMO.

Dirtiest players in the league are Phaneuf, Kennedy, Malkin, Avery and a couple more I can't think of right now.
Props to Staahl, he's the only PP I can stand.

Kennedy/Malkin ? Are you kidding me ? Those guys don't even belong in the top 25, let alone the top 5. I wouldn't even put them as the top 5 on their team.
Donald Brashear and Chris Pronger are WAY dirtier players than Kennedy and Malkin.
