Don't get me wrong, Franzen is a great player, but he's not worth locking up for that long. He's going to be 30, and he'll probably peak in the 35-goal range..

They should have locked up Hossa first, not Franzen

And I LOOOOOVE the fact that Chicago beat Calgirly!

Habs lost last night. **** subpar Carey price goaltending. Kovy scored a nice goal tough ....

go habs go! it's not over

thats for **** sure. gonna be a ridiculous series. these guys f'in hate each other. real physical game last night. surprised no stand up fights went down. lucky for the habs, chara and lucic are BEASTS

Lucic had some nice hits, but he did get hit alot too. I hate that dude:verymad:

What's with the Wings and the DP-like contract lengths?
It's pure salary cap moves. Franzen was getting his 44 million whether it be 6 years or 11 years. Extending the length of the deal lowers the cap hit, making it possible to also sign Hossa, and still have Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Now, the contract is probably front loaded, and when Franzen reaches his mid to late 30's, he won't be a financial liability. I'm not positive on the rules, but the Wings could probably buy out his contract and take a cap penalty. The buyout wouldn't cost much since his contract was front loaded. You also have to consider the salary cap is likely to be considerably higher in 10 years than it is now. The rules allow Detroit to only extend two players during the regular season. They extended Zetterberg and Franzen, so they have to wait till the offseason to extend Hossa. This does not at all mean Hossa will not be re-signed. I have learned never to question Ken Holland.

i ust hope teh habs lose, i mean like 10 of them were "all stars" it would be very ironic if they didnt win
actualy they were 4. 6 players were choice by the public (mind you Montreal is the biggest hockey city in the world) but two were injured //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

They were all-stars because it's based on fan votes and the all-star game was in Montreal this year, so they naturally voted for their own relatively shitty players ...

Vancouver owned the shit out of St. Louis last night ... Luongo was beyond comprehension, Sundin's deflection goal was sick, and the whole team just played fantastic. The officiating was better than the first game (15 penalties called in the first game, most of which was stuff that shouldn't be called in the playoffs), but there were a couple phantom calls on O'Brien last night, not that they led to anything for St. Louis.

Bieksa's little trip at the end was hysterical. I look forward to him beating the shit out of Crombeen on Sunday. Maybe Andy Murray should put Cam Janssen in to add some toughness to his obviously out-muscled team.

That was a cheap trip on a guy who wasn't really involved in any of the other parts of the shit show.

I was glad to see the Canucks win, and not surprised by Luongo. Concerned about their offense a bit because Sundin (with the exception of that marvellous tip) has looked like a shell of his former self over the last few weeks.
