recently, for what seems no reason, my sub amp has been turning it's self of due to some sort of fault. it will cause the subs to thump a few times then a click when the amp shuts off and back on by itself. and then repeat.. it's random too it may do it constantly if I leave it on or it may do only once then stop for a few minutes.

I started trouble shooting by thinking that it could have been my RCA's so I unpluged them to the amp and turned it on.. and everything seemed fine nothing happened. so I plugged only one rca in and the problem arose. so I unplugged that rca and then plugged in the other one. and still problem was there... so I got my mp3 player and plugged it directly into the amp through the rca's and it played fine. then I checked the other end of the original rca's one at a time and the problem was there with both. so I thought that the rca's had went bad for some reason. I grabbed another set and hooked them up, leaving the wire on top of everything for easy access. and played about 4 songs with no problem played great... so I reinstalled my seat, with the temp wire still exposed (amp is under seat, in a truck) turned on the radio and amp again.. and there was my problem again... with the new set of rca's. so it wasn't them.. but I can't imagine what it could be. I have double checked my ground and positives in the cab everything is tight. nothing seems cut or pinched. and all my audio equipment runs off the same power wire from battery to in the cab then goes to a power block and gets divided up. this setup has been stable for close to a year with no problems.

only my sub amp is having the problem.

it is a Viper 2500.1 wired in a 4ohm setting to 2 12's

head unit had 4 pre-outs that run into a electronic crossover. to divide signal to high, med, & low's.

today I thought I would check my other RCA's... I started messing around with them and all of a sudden I blew a fuse. when I replaced it my amp was making a buzzing sound.. I was like CRAP!!! WTF . and it was super hot. so I took it out.. drove to the local car audio shop and told them what happened and asked them to check it.. the guy took it in the back for about 5 min.. I heard a ton of bass playing after a bit.. then he comes back and said that it played fine.. that I probably have a short in my power lead. so I came back home looked over all my wires and didn't see any fault in them.. tried to hook it up again and buzz still and blew another fuse.. so I took it out and with a few short wires hooked it up directly to the battery. still buzzed... so now what?... shop is closed.. I plan on taking by in the morning to have them check it again.. and I want to watch him do it see if it still buzzes.. or to see if I have some major problem in my wireing that isn't affecting anything else for some reason... idk..

any ideas?

im thinking u have a pioneer deck... if so your rca outputs blew the fuse on the board inside the deck. u have to get the deck repaired if that is the case
what you talkin about? if the amp is still workin, then the rcas aren't fried, nor is the deck..i've NEVER heard of that before..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

i gotta pioneer and im having the same problems but i am not blowing fuses. im saving to get another deck. it dam sure wont be pioneer this is the second one that did this

heh... no I don't have a pioneer deck.. it's a aiwa.. before sony bought them I think.. the first generation mp3 deck.

anyway.. I took it back to the audio shop and they checked it again.. I went back there and watched and they couldn't get it to play.. when they hooked it up.. it would drain so much power from their test bench that the radio would turn off. so they had me pull my truck in and checked my wireing under my hood and hooked it straight to my battery.. and it did the same thing that it had with me.. so they said that it has a bad cap or power supply inside.. since it was sort of clicking and was getting hot after only being plugged in for like 20 seconds.. with no RCA's.. so they are sending it off to get repaired... bah..

but I'm just wondering why it happened in the first place and what I can do to prevent it in the future?... we checked my power wire and didn't see any cuts or burnt spots in the rubber...

just a faulty headunit/poor quality.
