Odd Tweeter Problem

So last night both of my brand new tweeters quit working. Figured I'd blown them so I waited until this morning and troubleshooted. Left channel tweeter working fine and right channel not. Naturally I switched the left with the right tweeter and still only left channel working. Took tweeter and wired directly to crossover bypassing my interior wiring and it works on the right channel and the left channels crossover output.

I assumed there is a break in the wiring from my crossover through interior wiring to the door so I put a volt meter on it and its showing voltage to it. At this point I'm broke, stumped and angry so I can't really afford to go buy another 12' of speaker wire to rewire it. Is there anything else I can do to verify the bad wiring? I have a decent DMM (Fluke 16). I have done nothing but park the car since last night and went to dinner and they stopped working.

Disconnect the speaker wires from the amp and speakers, then attach the wire to either sides of a 9v battery.

Set the DMM to direct current and measure the voltage at the opposite end of the wire. If it gives a reading (7-9V) the wire is not the problem.
