Obsidian car audio in the ranger

welp i had a new amp show up today! its the hifonics XXV Colossus i have each woofer at 1ohm on its own channel so they are seeing well over the rated 600rms. id be lieing if i said they dont get hot, they do get warm and even a LITTLE smell after one song full tilt. but they seem to be takin it wit out any problems! next on the list is to install my stinger volt gauge. and then the NGT NG31 batt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Not too shabby for two 600 watt subwoofers on a 3200 watt amplifier! That's 2.6x their rated power handling. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

welp i got metered today. best i got outa it was a 145.4 at 48hz.
Loud setups don't always meter well, no biggy. Definitely a mean looking setup though I can't wait to get an obsidian //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

it metered better then i thought lol. it still sounds alot louder then it meters. it also gets down right nasty when i open a door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

that they are nick! i wasnt really expecting to see much of a number. but it did a a 142+ down to 27hz and a it peaked at a 145.4 at 48hz so it does alright i guess, buti def think i could getmore outa it with a bigger box. this one is on the smaller side (5.8cubes) i feel like i could see a decent gain wit a bigger box wit a big slot port.

So the woofer doesn't really start to perform until it is seeing over 1kw? I was looking to get some12's but I do not want to have to run that much power and have to upgrade my alt and batts just to get the subs to perform

I do like the high roll surround though

These do great on the rated 600 watts rms. No need for 1k for daily application. Would be hard pressed to find a better sub on 600 watts in the same price range.

I just did some testing with 4 15s on 250rms(total not each) and they did amazing. No need for that much power. It is just a perk/bonus that they are durable enough to handle more then rated.

Out of the amps you mentioned Kenwood 805 hands down best bang for the buck. You won't be able to tell any difference from 5x7 to 6.5. You may...

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
