Dammn I could only imagine. When I went to NY there was already mad traffic which you guys probably don't complain about since you live there. Now your complaining so I could only imagine how packed it is on the roads:eek:

The idea of a union is a great idea, some of the peeps running the unionare dishonest and pick YOUR pockets as well as the employer to fund their own

perks..
Don't get me wrong, I am in NO way shape or form trying to say they're perfect. I just lost dental from my union. I'm wondering what is next. I personally hate the fat cat Business Agents that run the locals. They were once a worker just like me and now they think their shit doesn't stink anymore and aren't drumming up anymore work then they were before. They forget that its the union members that pay their salaries. They need alot of work but I will take what I have over working in a non union atmosphere (where I have NO workers rights) any day of the week.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Im going to say that the majority of unions are corrupt.....I know a couple of guys who got screwed with them. I also many other horror stories (including my mother).

question: arent laws what keep work hours/ethics stable rather than unions?

another question: who here backs the NYC transit strike?

Guess how these laws are around now?? Thats right the unions. The unions are responsible for most of the workers rights that we have today regardless if you work in a union shop or not. The unions fought for and brought us alot. Including:

- 40 hour work week

- breaks

- time + 1/2 after 40 ( of course in my union we get time and a half after 8 hours every day.)

- weekends, (thats right..........weekends.)

- non discrimination laws for employment

These are just a few of the workers rights that exist today because of the unions fighting for them back in the day. We should all be atleast somewhat thankful for unions in some way.

Of course there are horror stories but there are ALOT of unions in the world and you only really hear about the really bad ones where people have lost pensions from corrupt people fuking them. They're NOT all corrupt. And if you wanna talk corrupt.............how are the unions anymore corrupt then our own gov't.?? Think about that.

Oh and BTW.......................I DO support the strike.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I dunno man....their benefits as well as every cent they earn is paid for by NYC tax payers....and the NYC taxpayers in return are getting screwed. These guys want to retire at the age of 50. They also want free health care. I dont get it! They are getting paid better than the NYPD.

The TWU signed a contract which included a NO STRIKE CLAUSE and have not abided by it....I believe thats a breach of contract.

BTW...Adam..thanks for clearing that up for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

GO STEELERS!!!

Did anyone watch Conan O'Brien the other night when he rented a van and picked up some peeps. That shit was funny as hell.

I agree they need to get back to work. This is not the time to do it when people in large cities such as NY need transportation the most. For christ sakes its christmas. What asshats!

LOL yeah i saw that... good stuff.

The funniest part was when he was looking for more people to pick up and some hot chicks passed by and totally ignored him... then he was like "its high school all over again!" and started acting like a stalker haha.

If the contract duration is over, there is no breach of contract. It is against the law in most places for government workers to strike. The military cannot strike, teachers and police cannot strike, and neither can transit workers. They are doing this illegally. I am undecided whether this is fair or not.

Just goes to show the people really do run the country. Piss them off, and youre ****ed worse than being hogtied over a bench in a prison shower. Imagine if the military went on stirke? Who would be able to tell them to get back in line? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
