NYC Transit Union got PWNT HARDCORE!

There is nothing more that I hate in America than Unions... They are the single most powerful reason why GM, Ford, American Air, Delta, etc. are all going down the toilet. Why should we have to pay 80+k a year for a crackhead to stand in an assembly line to build cars while he's drunk or high. I wish they'd fire every one of of these pieces of shit...or better yet make everyone work a 14 hour shift on Christmas & Eve and then again on New Year's Eve/Day. They should have to kiss all of NYC's *** on their ride to and from work.

yeah...and we should also say **** school and make our children work 15 hour days in the coal mines. Hell, we should also abondon the minimum wage and become a 3rd world labor country. Instead of cheap chinese imports, we could self sustain on cheap american labor. Abondoning unions is like abondoning freedom. You should be happy your employer doesn't force you to work 100 hours weeks @ .25 an hour. Without labor laws they very well could.

The city lost over a billion on the first day...

I been watching NYC news every morning at 7am before work..

its freakin awful how many people are stuck walking hours to and from work.. in freezing weather.. the strike is actually endangering peoples health..

Its some serious bullshit. I definately don't blame all of the union workers tho because I bet a lot of their friends and familys are inconvenienced.. So I doubt they are being selfish and saying **** everyone.. Union workers are sheep.

I'm not advocating for child labor nor am I in favor of abusing worker's rights... But there comes a time when enough is enough... There are people in this forum (in Northern States) that belong to unions that are way OVERPAID. For example in an earlier thread VOA_NIGHTMARE said that entry level "journey linemen (electricians)" in a Union make $22/hr or Aprx $45k a year to start (probably plus benefits). In Florida, a non-unionized state, it would be around $12 to start. Granted with cost of living adjustments, lack of state income tax, etc. there is a level of regression between the difference but it is still a huge gap.

From an individual's standpoint unions give them more leverage to negotiate for salary, benefits, and give them job security.

From Society's point of view it raises the prices for goods and services, creates an artificial unemployment (due to less people being employed), lowers productivity, and makes us less efficient.

The cost of Labor is the single largest input cost in almost any company's cost structure. Labor unions, which breed in efficiency and lack of accountability, inflate these costs and are a burden to the company and society. Hence this is why manufacturing is being exported and several crucial American Industrials are caving (e.g. Airlines, Auto, Manufacturing).

Labor Unions were relevant about a century ago before the standardizations of the workweek, creation of OSHA, and the establishment of Child Labor Laws. Today they are only a burden to society.

You are a total dick to the American working man. People shouldnt be pushed around and made to work insane hours for low pay and the threat of being fired for absolutely nothing. Brown nose your corporations some more buddy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

BS. Corporate greed is why American jobs are leaving the country. NO other reason. Corportate Executives want to keep the profit margin up at the top and don't want to pay good wages. I for one couldn't make it on $12/hr. and neither could you I bet and yet you still thrash unions. YOU and your ignorance is what is wrong with our job market.

Unions are about American people earning a "liveable" wage. Not just a crumb from the corporations. I'm a union Laborer and earn $18/hr. and I earn every penny of it so don't tell me MY union isn't relevant.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

The idea of a union is a great idea, some of the peeps running the union

are dishonest and pick YOUR pockets as well as the employer to fund their own

perks..
