novice wiring help kdc-319 --> 98 sable

I'm trying to install my head unit into the car. I've done everything except wired the head to speakers and an antenna. my main power connector line from the dash (connected to the harness) includes the current speaker wires and antenna wire.

with my dash kit i got a bundle of speaker and antenna wire.

as i see it i have 2 options:

1) rewire speakers with new wires, running them through the car. As a novice, is this hard?

2) cut the right wires at the main line and connect them to the head unit. (I plan on removing the head before i get rid of the car so I'd like to be able to undo.)

are those my only options? is there a special kind of harness sold that has speaker and antenna wires as well, besides the power? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

i'd like to talk with someone about this. AIM sn: alpineedge3 if possible.

If you're not getting an amp for speakers then no need to rewire speakers. Save time to work and get $ for amp. Head units put enough power out to justify rewiring speakers.

Picture putting an amp in your trunk that is 18g. That's so small its not worth using.

I don't plan on putting in an amp. So are you saying i should just cut the main line? would a haynes/chilton manual have the specific wiring labels for this?

The haynes would have the stock wiring diagram. If you have the stock wiring still in place then keep it.

leave stock wiring for speakers unless you're running speaker wire to connect to an amp.

i see, but the problem is all the wiring terminates into a plug which then goes to the harness. would i have to cut the speaker wires before the terminating plug or is there a way around this?

I know some dont like crutchfield, but they know what they're talking about and know each car. Call them and ask for a speaker connector. Even though, you probably didn't buy from them. They'll always sell it to you. and it's vehicle specific

It should range from 5-15 bucks. Good people,especially for free opinions form someone youll never even meet. It's funny, ask them what they have in their car. It's like the company tells them to lie about it, unless they get a $5,000 bonus for working telephones.

i didn't realize the stock head was merely a controller for the tuner in the trunk. now it all becomes clear....
