I am currently powering two 10" 4 ohm DVc L5'2 in a sealed box with a boss 2500D. The amp is supposed to be 1 ohm stable but does not list the output at 1 ohm. @ 2 ohms the amp is supposed to put out 1500W RMS. The subs have a max pwr handling of 900 ea.

1. Am I to assume that with a 1 ohm load I am getting the full 2500?

2. Am I wasting my time with this amp? if so can someone please reccommend

one

To keep from blowing the L5's I was thinking of wiring two 8" 4 ohm DVC CVR's that I recently came to posess.

1. Does this make sense. If so how should i wire them using the above amp.

i also need help adjusting the gain on the amp.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

that amp isn't the greatest, if you want a cheap but good amp, looking into a concept cc-d1200, viper1200d, directed 1500d. hifonics bd1500 etc.

Peak ratings mean nothing, run the subs with their rms power... which is not 900 a piece

you are NOT getting the full power out of that amp, overrated

there ya go.
Yeah, I am green as hell but want to knock. I just wanted to know why different size woofers are a bad idea. I got the comp vr 8's brand new in a trade and was thinking about hooking them up just because I had them.

Is it a bad idea to have different sized speakers powered by the same amp or is it just bad two have different sized speakers period?

It's bad to have 2 different sized subs period. And it's bad to mix defferent brands and models of subs. Each one is going to play differently, and trust me when I say it's going to sound bad. Read the site I posted. If you really want to learn it has plenty of info.
