On the way to work this morning, my driver side mid and tweeter stopped playing and all I'm getting is a whine. When I get off I am gonna switch the RCA and see if they come back on. If not switch the side of the amp to see if they come back on. There is one of three things it could be. RCA, amp, or blown speaker. Just weird that both the mid and tweeter would do this at the same time.

I have had a broken speaker wire do exactly the same thing. Wires were shorted together. Why the amplifier didn’t go into protection I don’t know.

So just went out on break and pulled the RCA's and checked the wire. Hooked everything up and it works fine. I do have the crossovers inside the door attached to the door panel. Wondering if that came loose and touched metal. Gonna pull the door panel today and see when I get home

Now that I am sitting here thinking about it. This started right when I was pulling into my parking lot. There is a weird bump that rocks the car side to side you you hit it. So wondering if I shook that crossover loose and it fell against the metal on the door. That would explain both mid and tweeter making the same noise. Cause usually a whine in music is some type of ground loop. Speaker grounding out could do it. I had plans to do sound deadening on the doors as well as closing all holes in the door with plastic when I go on vacation in July. So if it came loose, I'll probably just use a piece of sound deadening for temporary hold on the crossover.

Once I get the plastic over the doors I will have a more secure way to mount the crossovers.

Aight, pulled the door apart and crossover was secure. Re-wired the crossover using better fasteners. This weekend I’ll test the continuity of the RCA to see if there is a bad rca. If not, it’s either a bad connection inside the amp or the good ole pioneer headunit

Edit: I also checked the mid and tweeter with dmm. Both were at 4ohm

I do have a question for everyone. The tweeter is on the sail panel and has to be removed before the door panel. So I have to use a disconnect. Right now I am using Dorman bullet connectors. Anything I should look at for a better connection?

Honestly, I think of this method was working for you all this time, it should be fine.

Those bullet connectors work well. We use them to fix electrical on tractors and combines, which are never on smooth roads. As far as I know, we’ve never had a connection rattle loose.

Well I switched the RCA's from left to right. So if it does it again I can either pinpoint or eliminate the RCA's.
