I see one of those nice Memphis 16-MC1000D amps on CL for only 100 dollars, I currently have the amp in my sig. Which one of these would be better to run, if any difference at all? I feel like the memphis would be sturdier..

I'd prefer the memphis personally, but it would depend if the ohm load matched up correctly with the new amp, and if I could sell the other amp lol

checked it out today, the amp kept going into protect when I would turn it up loud, it would go in and out, I think it may be because my sub has a .7 ohm configuration.

The guy said that he hooked it all up at home and it ran perfect at 2 ohms, didn't buy it too skeptical.

The offer still stands he said though, what do?

definately don't risk it bro, but was it on your car or his?? if his then maybe hes electrical didnt have the power to back it up or just amp could handle that much power at .7 ohms. i'd say don't buy it. no wonder he's selling it at 100

the guy doesn't know **** about audio, apparently hes really cool with some dudes from DOA..

Now hes just texting me about them, I told him to ask them if they had any batts laying around they wanted to sell.

yea it could have been the electrical not being able to hold it at .7 ohms.

Amp may be fine but if u plan on running .7 ohms daily, i say leave it.

I could rewire my sub or just sell the amp for more, I see a lot of opportunity in this.

but its also risky. I'm almost positive now that the amp doesn't have an issue.

rewire the sub and see what it does, if it doesnt cut off youre fine.

should also be an easy resale

when i sold my kicker zx750.1 the first guy who hooked his subs up didnt buy because he said "ohms dont make an amp shut off" as he hooked a 2 ohm stable amp up to his 0.5 ohm setup. At that point I was just like give me back my amp and GTFO

Its just that I didn't have the tools at the time to rewire the sub, the guy is probably selling it to somebody else now.

he may not be. Tell him u still want it and meet up again. Rewire your subs before ya go and go from there....

I think if you have to think about it this much, then don't buy it. I'll tell you this though, I bought one for 130, wasn't for me but it was worth it. Running @ 2 ohms and the amp gets HOT, but has never failed. Used it on a 6hr trip with the music decently loud most of the time and never failed. It's a good amp.
