not handling 1 ohm load?

hifonics bx1500d at 1 ohm load loosing volume and cutting out at higher volumes. I have the big 3 upped to 2/0. All else is stock elec. Suzuki Verona 05. I'm guessing the stock alternater needs upgrading? or i need to replace the amp with something that can handle the 1 ohm load better??

that amp should do 1 ohm np... I ran one at .5 on a custom solo x 12 in my celica for a while, barely ever cut off, though I wouldn't recommend it.

what batt you running? i'd start there and upgrade it.

stock batt. That's a good start. i hear these amps like voltage.

i'm not even really pushing the amp very hard. 1 ohm load into 2x 500rms p3's. gain at 2/3, sub zone s%#$ and boost all at zero. lights not dimming.

i bet that thing has a teen tiny alt, like 60amp, i bet its cutting out from low voltage, put a multimeter on the amps power terminals and measure voltage with it wangin

never up'd an alt before. any tips on how to buy the right alt to fit my car?? or does it matter? probably 150 amps?

Check your grounds and all other connections...

If the lights arn't even dimming then a lack of voltage/current does not sound like the problem...

i have that amp on all stock electrical, 4ga power/ground at 1ohm with gain right around 2/3 and it has never cut out or even got hot for that matter. My stock alt is 102 amp...i do however get dimming lights.

check grounds. you shouldnt be having this much problems. are you sure final load is 1ohm?

redid the grounds a couple of weeks ago, nothing changed. i pulled everything out(pain in the a$$), made sure of the wiring/ohmage. 2 d4 subs ran in parallel to 1 ohm. New amp?? That amp has been in my possession for about 7 years.

I just have a gut feeling that it's the amp that needs the replacing/fixing considering that the lights don't dim at all and i'm not getting the power i used to...and nothing changed after i upgraded the big 3.

Hey kr15, finding some pretty good prices (under 200) on the bxi1508d. Any complaints with it? I want something that takes 4ga and puts out rated at 1 ohm. That amp might not be a bad idea...i'd like a discus but don't want to up to 1/0.
