Not enough output from Tang Band 8"?

I'm really disappointed in how my Tang Band W8740p is sounding in my car. It sounded killer in a Dayton sub box with a 80W plate amp. But it sounds anemic and underdriven by two 50W channels bridged from my Aura 4200 amp.

The box is ****, could that be the only problem? It's a POS goldwood that I got because I had some extra Amazon cash from a gift card.

I really expected deeper bass. Do I have to crank up all the eq to get it to really bump? Even with some settings turned up it sounds like the sub is struggling. Am I doing something wrong or is car audio just that much different? The sub is in my trunk btw.

Box is going to make a difference, but that sub is not gonna flat out pound no matter what you do. Yep the dayton was ported. I do have a port I could put on the box but idk if it would **** up the tuning... it's just a port from a 3-way tower.

I've got to imagine the box is the problem, because it should be getting more power than before.

It would probably sound better somewhere in the cabin rather than the trunk. oh well.

Just keep in mind it's not going to have the output that his Skar 15 or my 2 Obsidian 15's do. I think a lot of SQ people would be better off going with something they could turn down when they want SQ and turn up when they want to slam... but that's just me lol.

you're going to notice a huge decrease going from a ported box to sealed. Especially with such little cone area. Have a T-line built for it or something.
