Noob RCA question

I just found out that I ordered the wrong type of RCA cable to hook up my sub and am wondering if someone can tell me if I can still use the cable. I bought the following cable http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5fid=2018&sku=29119 (from Amazon where there is no picture) and only after reading the description again did I realize that this is only a single (mono) RCA cable.

So my question is, can I use this cable? It is only going to be used with my subwoofer so I do not need stereo. If I connect it as follows will it work:

HU sub pre out > RCA Y adapter > RCA cable above > RCA Y adapter > rear channels on 4 ch amp (will be bridged to run sub).

I already have the RCA Y adapters and am hoping I can use them to save the hassle of returning the cable and ordering another one.

I would probably just hook your mono cable up to one of the two sub pre-outs at the HU - not using the y cable there.

The reason being - If the signal coming from the HU isn't exactly the same on each of the 2 outputs you could theoretically cause damage to the HU. The y cables would create a short between the 2 outputs. Not a good scenario IMO.

If it IS mono you don't need to run them both anyway.

If you want to use the y cable at the amp input that's fine.

Not quite, it was cheaper at Amazon (although not the cheapest around, but I was buying other things at the same time).......

I am thinking I should just try and return this cable and go pick up a regular RCA cable (or just throw this one in a box for use as a spare home theater cable)

Go to any radio shack and pick up a set of $6 RCA's

Save yourself the hassle. Return the wires to amazon and get a new l + r rca.

I could've sold you a nice Monster Cable RCA for cheaper than $30 shipped. IMO that was a lot of $ for what it was.
