noob question: Box size

Driver manufactures put out a "recommended" enclosure size spec. Can a problem crop up if you have a box that is to big or is that "recommend" size just that.

*From what I hear*, it is not too uncommon for some manufacturer's to recommend sealed boxes that are a little on the small side, because this raises the Q and gives that peaky, boomy bass that most people are after (like the teenage crowd, who is the large majority of sub purchasers). Not saying ALL manufacturer's do this though.

And I agree with the post above mine....larger boxes need less power.
