Noob question about DD subs?

you'll notice an increase in SQ from switching to the 10 and maybe some better power handling but overall SPL your 15 will be louder.
Absolutely incorrect regarding the SQ.

With the coils acting as a single air core inductor just sitting there, they basically will have a thermal power handling limited by length and gauge. The 2.5" diameter will yield a lower static power handling (amperage capacity before reaching a given temperature F) than the 3" diameter coil.

If the guy has the height needed to mount the 15.5" diameter subwoofer along with the necessary maximum external dimensions for compression chamber or to fold a waveguide, then the power handling difference of the 10" subwoofer will have a fat chance in hades trying to keep up, especially if the requirement is that the subwoofer play relatively flat over an entire octave or even more. The 3510 would have a massive problem doing that in an enclosure volume near what is recommended by the manufacturer (as if their recommendation means much).

What are the maximum external box dimensions you have available for that 2515? They have a relatively weak suspension for the motor force and mass; it's rare that I've seen many trunk applications where the box can actually be big enough to fold the appropriate waveguide in there (and you still be able to remove the box without busting it into pieces).

Get the 2515 and add the Super charged option! Itll take 1000 pretty easily..
Thatd be awesome, but i assume it would cost a pretty penny //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Umm not really sure, its a pretty big trunk, but the trunk itself isnt a giant box.

Its a 2000 grand marquis. I cant really take measurments right now, but im gonna get a custom box pretty soon.

do yourself a favor and get the maximum box dimensions (width, height and depth) rectangle if possible rather than having a slanted front, back or top, notches for a gas filler nozzle or anything like that. biggest rectangular prism you could stick in and take out. PM me the dimensions when you have em....way before you go and blow money getting a "custom box" built.

Will do! Thanks!

The 3510 has potential to be louder. Can realistically handle about twice the amount of power the 25 can and a good box will bump you over.

Edit - What in sam hell is nuthuggers talking about. Dont listen to him.

I was thinking the same thing? Werent they talking about supercharging the 2515 anyway?
