Here'd the skinny. WHen it comes to hook-up/wiring car audio, I don't do that :|

Here's what I have

- JL 12w3v2 D4

Here's what's powering it

- Kicker KX350.2

Here's what it's going into

- Q-Logic Single 12" Sealed/Vented Subwoofer Enclosure

My problem: I don't know what wires go where. I have two sets of +/- end wires.

Does one set run from the amp to the speaker, and then the other from the speaker to the box plugs? Then the box plugs to the HU? Thats my best guess. Secondly, where does the power for the amp come from?

Its going into a 06 Scion tC. I'd search for other threads, except I'd have no clue what I was looking for/at and if it would apply to me.

Thanks

Totally willing to yank interior seats, carpet, whatever, run the wires, bla bla bla. I have a friend who does this stuff all who will help me, but i need to be educated. So, pretty much I'll be doing the bulk of the work.

You should have gotten a D2 version of that subwoofer, not a D4. That amp puts out 150W/channel @ 4 ohms and 350W @ 1 ohm.

1. Firewall - The "wall" between you and the engine

2. Ground - Your whole car is grounded. One of the cables from your negative battery terminal is connected to your frame

3. Power wire - This is where your amp is getting it's power. You need to run this from your battery to the amp. When going through the firewall, put on a grommet so it doesnt have a chance of tearing and touching the metel of the firewall.

4. Fuse - This protects the wire in case of a short. The fuse should be as close to the battery as possible.

5. Speaker wires - Connect your subwoofer to the amp

6. Ground - Connect a wire from your amp to the chassis of a car. DO NOT use a seat belt bolt. Sand the paint off in an area to your liking and use a screw to bolt it down

7. RCA - This is how your subwoofer will get it's signal. Connect this to head unit (hopefully it has a subwoofer preout) and the the amp.

8. Remote wire - This is how your amp knows when to turn on. It sends a small signal every time the HU is on.

The amp kit you bought (if you havent yet) should include everything needed.

This is how your subwoofer can be wired.

You could get another subwoofer and wire it this way to get the most power out of your amp.

awsome diagram, as well as links. Made it a lot easier to understand. A few things.

"Amp kit" what is this and where can i get one if i need it. All the studd i mentioned is ALL i have, nothing else.

As far as I understand my particular amp, it says its 'stable' at 4 ohms bridged. That would be 350watts @ 4ohms in bridged mode if i'm reading correctly?

Lastly, what gague wire would you reccomend? 4g?

Thanks.

Err, also, as far as my amp goes, will it work or is it worthless? I got it for like 80 bucks NIB on ebay, so its not like my wallet hurts over it being not usable.

You'd be fine with the 8 guage kit they offer. If you think you'll upgrade to a bigger amp in the future (

The amp will work if you get another D4 subwoofer. But right now, its pretty useless because your subwoofer can only be wired to give a 2 or 8 ohm load.

Option 1: Buy another D4 subwoofer and wire them to 1 ohm like the pic I posted.

Option 2: Buy another amp that gives out 250W-300W at 2 ohms.

amp suggestion? my hatch won't fit another speaker //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
