ok so this mtx amp has more knobsthen im used to and i think thats y.....when i turn up the h/u to 20 (sony) i kno i know....my sub makes a weird noise like someones banging on the cone. i have heard the subsonic filter and eq settings cud be the reason..is this true? and if so can someone help me ??

Also, turn off ALL the EQ's, bass boost on 0 (thats the middle on these amps) set your X-over right, (it shows you its like 1/3 of the way) and set your SSF 35-40 (thats if you have the sledgehammer box)

haha yep i got tehh sledgie, dont wanna change till i get my new car. thanks a lot man. and yea, it sounds friggen normal until you open the thing. wierd

yea i was gonna have some1 build me a box but then i found out my parents want to get me a more fuel efficient car. i love the sub but the box....mtx made it to look good not sound good but wat else is new

its not the box, those boxes are made actually very good.

U are clipinng the shut outta the sub, turn down ur gain and if u ahve the bass boost on, turn that completey off.

U should not have any distorion, trunk open or not.

How are you going to tell me? I OWNED THE SUB, have you? I had personal experiance. I even called MTX about it and shit, its normal and it sounds like that because it needs to ricochet of something.

I work at CC man, im around those subs everyday, adn they dont make any noises, even tho they are in a wide opne bass room. NO sub is suppose to make a distored sound, no matter what.

U need to stop givin bad info, when u have no clue what ur sayin.

lol...

Mine didn't give a distorted sound, but it didn't sound too good when it didn't ricochet of anything.

thats what distortion is man. URs subs wont sound as loud in a open area, but they shouldnt be making any odd noises.

Both of u need to turn ur gains down and if ur using bass boost, turn it off.

whyd u say lol, cuz i proved u wrong or do u think i dont no anything cuase i work at CC, if so, i obviously no a lil more than u.

I never said you didn't know more than me, and which you probably do know more than me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif and I don't have that setup anymore btw. and what ever, you keep thinking what you wan't, I took it to an authorized MTX dealer to tune it when I first had the single sub setup in that box and it still did it..

lollll i worked at cc too.....those people are so dumb it made me quit.....you dont work with 9500s....cuz cc dont sell them. the box is made very sturdy but the way the air travels through it or the frequency of the box seems to be the problem. I did what you said jbizz and it only distorts at very high volumes now, which is prolly due to the fact that im using a sony headunit ....thanks.
