First off I want to start by saying I will be installing in a 2000 Dodge Durango.. I am VERY new to the car audio scene. Ill give a run down on what I'm looking for.

So after I installed:

Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P6900UB (with 30gb Ipod video)

Speakers: Pioneer TS-A1682R x4

After installing just the head unit I could tell a difference! Then after the speakers went in I was a little disappointed, not much of a change (could be the EQ settings with the unit, im lost with those).. Anyway

I need help picking out amp/s and sub/s.. I listen to a lot of different music mostly rock and rap. I don't need top of the line, but I to sound good. I really want to go with a sub thats already enclosed since I know nothing about making them. I was looking at the Kicker SOLO-BARIC.. Price is really not to big a deal, looking to spend 500-700 max on sub and amp..

Some questions I have:

What size sub should I go with? (I don't want to shake the block, but i wana feel it)

If I want to amp all my speakers and a Sub do I HAVE to get a 5 chann amp? ( I have read about mono amps, but i wana keep it easy for me, this will be my 1st install)

Will hooking my spakers to an amp make this big of a difference since the head unit is an amp itself?

I know I have more questions, but I'll start here..

No, you could get a 4-channel and a seperate amp for the subs. In fact, that's probably the route you should go. You have a lot more flexibility with seperate amps. First, there just aren't that many 5-channel amps out there, compared to the almost unlimited number of 4-channel and mono amps. Second, you can upgrade just the sub amp later, or just the front speaker amp, which would be cheaper than buying a bigger 5-channel. Third, 5-channel amps can be physically large. Mounting might be easier with two smaller amps.

Yes, absolutely! The headunit can only put out around 20w of clean power per channel, where an external amp can put out much more clean power. You should find a 4-channel amp that can do 100w RMS per channel at 4 ohms. The Kicker zx650.4 would be a good choice. They can be had for about $200 shipped on ebay.

Refurbs are fine.

I don't know if that's the best sub for the money or not. I'll let others decide if you can do better for the same money.

If you want an L7, get this one, since it's wired to 2 ohms, instead of that one, which is wired to 4:

http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-VS10L7-10-SOLO-BARIC-L7-SUB-BOX-ENCLOSURE-2-ohm_W0QQitemZ170140415855QQihZ007QQcategoryZ32823QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Amps that can put out 600w at 2 ohms are cheaper than ones that can put out that power at 4 ohms.

For the 2ohm version, the Kicker zx750.1 would be perfect.

A Kicker zx650.4 and a zx750.1 will draw a lot of power. You'll need a 1/0 gauge dual amp wiring kit, such as the Kicker PKD1. They can be had on ebay for around $80 shipped. You'll also need RCA cables and speaker wire.
