Noob Help please

sry but im pretty noob at all the techincal issues with car audio an i came here to get better.

Question's-

1) difference between 2 an 4 Ohm? i know this is what the sub run's but how does it affect the preformance/useage?

2)Dvc V.S Svc whats the main difference here?

Allright thats all my dumb Q's thanks for the help.

DVC vs SVC is basically wiring options. Your higher end subs generally have Dual or Quad voice coils.

2 and 4ohm coils, once again for the most part, has to do with wiring options.

It helps you put the number of subs you have on the right amp, so to speak. IF you have two DVC 4ohm subs, you want an amp that does best at 4 or 1ohms, dual 2 ohms subs would be an amp that runs best at 2ohms. It's just wiring options. For the most part.

Differences in voice coils simply allow you a different range of impedance choices. Theres no ohm number thats any better than another. For instance, you wont hear a difference in a 2 ohm sub compared to a 4 ohm sub.

DVC- dual voice coil, two voice coils, to allow you more impedance choices, which gives you a wider range of amp choices.

SVC- single voice coil, one impedance is what you get.

Shit, Grubbs beat me to it.

also you need to match "ohms" to your amp if you have a ohm ohm stable amp and u wanna run 2 subs you want 2 dual 4s to match the amp to get the max output

most of the lower line amps are not 1 ohm stable tho so you alwasy have to look at that

ok my sony... XM1652Z amp runs

Rated Output Power:

2 Ch x 165W at 4 ohm

1 Ch x 400W at 4 ohm

2 Ch x 200W at 2 ohm

i have it running on the 1 channel to an Orion ferro fluid injected 15"

running it briged...

Is this straight?aka wont blow my amp?"

Ohms are a measurement of resistance that an amp will see,Less resistance the amp sees' the more current will flow....Downfall is that the amp can overheat!I agree with Grubbs 100% Do what is best for the amp as well as the subs.....I think $$$$$ is a big deciding factor for any out of this world install..
