I just dont get it. I have a97 civic dx. 70-80a alt.

pioneer 800w mono amp, and 2 4ohm SVC subs.

I wire them together in paralell +,+ -,-

they play at real low volume, you turn up the volume pop they go out.

the amp says its 2ohm stable. I tried grounding it to the chassis, and running it from the battery ground. same shit.

I think I should do the big 3 with my 4ga wire?

does anyone know whats goin on? I tried setting the gain with a test tone & dmm and it still has this problem

What subs? pioneer TS-W301R 150w rms a piece 1000wpeak
How did you set the gain on the amplifier? i turned it to normal, which is a 1/6th turn up....even does this all the way down

what gauge power/ground wire do you have? 4ga for both power and ground

what kind of sub box? prefab? not sure, bought it from this dude, but im guessing a sealed prefab

well, first off, turning the gain knob to 1/6 is not how to set gains. Do a search on here, there are multiple tutorials on how to properly set amplifier gains

secondly, you have crappy subs in a crappy box, dont expect much from them. Especially if this is in a trunk-style car where the subs are not open to your cabin.

what do you mean by "pop go out"? the amp turning off? it could be an internal amplifier issue as well.

my reccomendation is AT LEAST put those subs in a decent box. For loudness, put them in a ported and tuned box (also a tutorial on how to do that on the forums).

read my post again.......... i set the gain with a test tone and DMM

on top of that, the subs have enough room for what they are in. its in a hatchback also.

what you hear is a slight pop when the subs cut off. then if i wait a second, youll hear another pop like it wanted to play the bassnote.

the amp appears to not shut off, as the power light is still illumnated.

anyone think its a voltage drop issue?
how far is your voltage dropping? anything in the low 12's can be a bad sign.

does your amp have a protection light on it?

And if your subs are daisy chained, if the sub wired closest to the amp is having issues, that will cause both to cut out. If they are truely 150RMS subs, overpowering them can, of course, damage them. Maybe the first sub is freezing up, causing the other sub to not play?

I've know alot of headunits to have a lag or slight discharge when turned off. I've found that in those cases put a toggle switch on the remote wire and shut it off manually before you shut off the hu. Might seem like a pain but when your limited on funds it solves the prob. At least it has for me.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Now if its your amp discharging after power is taken away thats a whole other prob.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

my voltage at the amp with the car off is 12.3

you think my battery is just a pos? ive owned the car for 3 years and its been teh same bat the whole time

voltage while car is running is 14.3x also, when having bass super low, where i can hardly hear it..same reading.

i dont know what amps my battery is. its a remy series4000 battery

the amp is a gm7100M says its 2ohm capable right?
