Noob 4 channel to component question-

Thanks in advance!

I am installing my amps this weekend, and plan on installing my components in the front and coaxials in the rear. I was wondering if I run the speaker wire from the 4- channel to the actual door speakers or to the back on the HU?

I know this seems noobish...

Best way is to run RCA's from the H/U to the amps, and then the speaker wires from the amps to the speakers. If you are using a factory H/U, then you will need a LOC like this:

David Navone - Adaptor Products - Car Audio Engineering

The Navone NE774V is one of the better LOC's on the market.

If using a LOC, you run the speaker wires from the H/U to the LOC. Then RCA's from the LOC to the amps, and then speaker wires from the amps to the speakers.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Something you might want to invest in is buying nine strand wire. Idk if you know what that is but its basically nine wires and then surrounded and insulated to make one it look like one wire. Its nice for running multiple wires long distances. it comes with the white, grey, violet, and green aftermarket speaker wire colors and a blue remote wire so you just connect the speaker wire from your factory speaker wire and hook up the remote wire to the after market head unit unless you are using stock head unit. If you are using stock head unit then you will need to check out hawaii's post and get a line out converter for your RCAs. but back to the nine strand, if you are using a stock head unit, tap the remote wire into the power wire or plug it into a fuse that is connected to something that only comes on when you turn the key on (the radio fuse or windshield wiper fuse for example). Run the nine strand back down to your four channel and screw in all the wires. run the RCAs back up to your head unit from your amp and boom boom boom you have sound woo hoo. Oh and dont forget to tap your new speakers into the original speaker wire. if you dont then no boom boom

I would just stick with some good 16 gauge speaker wire, or better. That way, even if you're not pushing much power now, you'll have room to upgrade and you won't have to run all new wire again.
