Noisy HO Alternator?

Got the Excessive Amperage 200a Alternator in for my Fiesta, everything hooked up right. And when i started it, it seems to have a wine to it, and a smell. The smell went away cause im assuming its new, "that new alternator smell." But the noise is only loud when its not under load. Are all HO typically noisier than factory Alts?

Belt slipping? I had to drop it down a few sizes, it would slip under load even though i thought it was tight

No, idts, the belt is tighter than a frogs *******. And i said it was only loud when its not under a load, only at idle. It sounds normally fine when under load

My alt whines, kind of sounds like a jet. 300 amp EA alt.

And not alt whine through the speakers, just the actual alt itself.

My buddy had an EA alternator and the thing made his car sound like it had a turbo. Not sure what the deal was with that... maybe just an EA thing because my DC is silent.

I have a 180 ho alt that doesn't do that.

Well i looked at Nates Youtube video of a 200a Alt, and it makes the same noise.

id say its normal, my mechman gets a lil noisy at higher rpms,

doesn't matter how tight the belt is, it can still slip

It's a new alternator? On mine the pulley is "glazed", it's gotten really smooth and shiny to where the belt won't grab it. I need to get a new pulley

sounds like the noise yours is making could be normal. I was thinking slip because of the smell. I never noticed a smell on mine, but when the alt is under load and it slips you can smell the rubber burning lol

Don't worry about it lol. I think it's cool I cuz I be like yo, my alt sounds a lot more mean than yours.
