Yeah, I've been seeing some pretty impressive 8 and 10 installs that I could be happy with.

*facepalm* way to generalize every single 8" woofer in the world, you obviously haven't seen the new SA-8's....

So the new SA-8 is going to put everything smaller than 15" out of the market? Sundown is good, but I just don't see an SA-8 pleasing me more than say an SA-12 to keep the comparison fair. Unless they somehow overcame physics.

I hope I'm wrong, if I am I'll try to ditch my 15's and put a ton of SA-8's in my trunk... but I really don't see that happening.

just get 2 sa-8's or vvx-8's in 1-1.2 cubes @ 32-36hz should sound way better than the 10 and get louder

Which would suggest that the SA-8 would compete with any 12" sub if read in the context of the posts., i

It may be a ****** 8, it may be the baddest 8 ever made, I have no idea. But I'll take a 12 of my choice over the baddest 8 money can buy.

And again, if this new 8 sounds like a 15, I'll fill my trunk with them and rule the world.

I will agree with this, 2 8's would be a good bit more cone area than 1 10, so everything being equal you'd probably be happier with that.

1 12 I believe is more cone area than 2 8's though... just my 2 cents.

There's a whole lot more involved than just cone area, I'm not saying the SA-8 is the end all, be all sub, hell I've never even ran one. But to tell the OP that he should at least run a 10 because no 8 could ever satisfy you is a fairly ignorant statement IMHO.

i went and and measured the ohm with a dmm...never got a great reading...but it was around 5 when I decided to come in. Not sure why I would not see an even 4. I am thinking it is just in too big of a sealed box thats almost twice its asking spec for a sealed. Now I could vent this box if I were to keep it, but I would have to fill up the hole the other 10 is taking up.

I would love a SA-8 but depth probably wont work when I am working with a back seat area in a truck that is maybe 8.5 wide at the bottom of an enclosure for behind truck seats.

Ignorant? If you can find me an 8 that does what an equivalent 15 does I will PAY you 100.00. I'd love to have some trunk space for batteries and ****. And notice, I said that would satisfy ME, not you or the OP.

We've all seen or heard a single 8 in a T-Line on 400 watts and watched people guess that it's 2 12's on 2k, or a 15 on 2k, or whatever. But pull up beside that car with 2 12's on 2k, or with a 15 on 2k, and the difference is generally pretty obvious.

You just can't really defeat the laws of acoustics, or physics. I'm sure Mobile Enclosures, or that PWK douche can make an 8 sound pretty **** impressive, but I'm also sure they can make a 12 with the same motor and **** even more impressive. It's just the way it is.

my 4 skar 3's on 3k get pretty loud a few guys said it sounds liek i have 2 15's in my trunk does that count flex if so i will take the 100 lol

I am guessing that this speaker is just trash now. It still works...but i saw some where online said if the spider wires (im guessing the wires to the voice coil) are black or burnt looking then its probably trash. Well mine are dark / almost dirty looking.

No sir, it does not lol. What the **** is a SKAR 3? My mom would probably think you had 12 18's in your trunk. I'm talking a fair comparison, let's say a SKAR 10 vs. a SKAR 15 on the same power, side by side. The difference would no doubt be noticeable, because cone area DOES matter. People are talking about the new Sundown 8's like they defy physics. A small driver on low wattage in a T-Line is nothing new, but do a side by side and you will hear the difference.

Where did the op ever ask for lots of spl? Everything was fine until a certain member started comparing everything to 15s and pushing his personal listening tastes on everyone.

Did you use a 0db test tone to set the gain? If so you'll never get that much output from music. I'd just set the gain by ear or use a -5db tone.

What are you talking about? Plenty of songs hit 0db.

yes used a 0db tone ...50hz to set the gain.

That is the proper way to set gains with a DMM for sub channels.

it should have said 4 skars on ap3k lol . i had a **** load of 8's and i dont care what 8 it is it will never sound the same as the same 15. yea its a great sub but it cant over come the cone area of the 15.maybe if the 15 is on 100 wats and the 8 is on like 600-1200 lol
