no sound

i went out to my car and there was no sound, a have a sony cd player, clarion eq and eclipes 4 chan amp, worked fine earlyer today but now dosnt, if i turn the volume all the way up i can hear music a tiny bit and it sounds all staticy, let me no if anyone knows whats wrong,,,,,,,

i checked the speaker wires going to the amp and they seem fine, all conected good, i moved around all wires and rcas and there was no kind of change to the sound

also try hooking up an ipod directly to the eq thru the rca's ,deck may have taken a dump

if the cd player messed up would it still have some sound?

i have a batt in the trunk so its only like a foot ground wire and it seems fine

It's possible the radio is still sending out a small amount of voltage on the RCA's, I wouldn't think they would fail at the same time, but if the radio only had one set of preouts I could see it happening.

if the audio outputs went out then no,i have the same issue with my avhp 4100 dvd ,i have to turn it all the way up to get a static very faint sound

it has front, back and sub preoutput on the back of the cd player, iv always had it to the front preoutput to the eq, i just tryed to hook it to the back and sub output and it does the same thing

Straight to the battery your probably, just make sure it's clean and tight on there. Do what the previous poster said and run an ipod/mp3 player whatever right in to the inputs on the amp and see what happens.

i have a dmm, so is there any wires or something i can check the voltage on, and if so what should it read?

Set your meter to AC voltage, disconnect the speaker wire leads while leaving the RCA's plugged in. Play something on the CD player and put your leads for your DMM on the speaker wire terminals. It should show changing AC voltage. I would also try just running the RCA's straight to the amp and bypass the EQ all together.

well ran the rcas straight to the amp and works fine, so i guess it was the eq, thanx for the help guys
